Pilot Whales killed 18. September, 2013

18.09.2013

It has been 15 days that the dolphins and whales have swam in peace in the waters near Taiji. This morning just after 6:45am, just as most people are waking up and drinking their morning coffee, the Taiji dolphin killers were already driving a pod of 60-70 Pilot whales toward the killing cove.

Despite high winds and choppy seas, the killers were relentless. The massive pod includes many juveniles and babies. They will be held captive in the killing cove for over 19 hours until they will be slaughtered for human consumption.

We will start our Cove Guardian live stream at sunrise as the process is set to Juvenile pilot whales mourn their family members as they continue to barely float above the surface of the blood tinged water.Today a total of 70 Pilot Whales were brutally slaughtered and 4 babies were left motherless and dumped back out to sea.

The chances of their survival are slim to none after enduring such stress and trauma. Many of the "slaughtered" whales were still alive and conscious as they were dragged out of the killing cove and into the butcher house.
